Is it Legal?

When can you turn on the heat at home? Is it a certain temperature outdoors? Is it a date on the calendar? Last week the dog and I decided it was cold in the house based on the thermostat indicating it was 60 degrees. We made the executive decision to flip that switch over to warm. I'm curious how others decide. Is there a formula? Do you consult your dog? Is there a law?

Legal schmegal, turn the heat on when you feel cold. We usually
start our first fire when it gets freezy in Sept. Now it goes pretty much every night--warmth is nummy.

we are geeks at our house.
we wait until we can't take it anymore (plus, i love the feeling of snuggling under 3 blankets while wearing a sweatshirt and those super warm slipper socks)

i don't think that there is any certain rule--like wearing white before labor day...besides, isn't that rule more like a guideline now anyway?

you have a heat-need sensing dog...sounds like a perfect system.

What I have is a nearly furless, pathetic little dog who gets chilled easily. lol But I'll take any excuse I can get.

I try to hold out as long as we can. Easier to do in this house with 3 gas fireplaces. Lauren is coming to stay for a few day, so we broke down and turned it on, but it is set really low. We are still sleeping with the bedroom window open....

FYI - if you sleep with a hood or had you will be much warmer without the heat!
